MY DOGS

Gwennie: Born Nov 30,1998
Queen bee, she rules the house with an iron paw. No one not even Haggis tells her what’s, what. She is the oldest dog and keeps the other two in check. The true matriarch she knows she is top dog. She loves playing with the others and sleeping in on winter days. She hates it when the squeakier get popped in her toys, even though she is the one that popped it. She can not abide getting her paws wet on rainy days. So she walks along a small strip of cement the runs along fence and keeps dry. She crosses over to the lawn at the last minute, goes potty, and walks back the same way. Ever the lady, she can return to the house on the rainiest of days barley damp at all. She never leaves the back yard. Gwennie loves to go on her walks. The same way every time, she thrives on routine.

Middy: Born Nov 16,2003
Duchess in training, she could be more of a lady if she didn’t have such a tomboy streak in her. The only Wheaten Scottie in the bunch, she is the first to dig in the dirt, roll in the mud and runs full out in the rain. When she is freshly washed her coat is a brilliant white with a beige strip down her back, but she rarely stays white for more than a day. She has gotten out of the back yard but, she only does so in order to take care of her best friend in the world, Haggis. But don’t let her platinum locks fool you, she is the problem solver.

Haggis: Born Feb 13,2004
The only male he is just a Prince. Gwennie will not allow any rivalry to the crown. He loves every day, everything is always new and fun for him. He loves a treat, like a dog biscuit but in truth would rather have a cuddle or a scratch on the head just as well. He has gotten out of the back yard, if we have been ill and not able to take him on the group walks. He gets wonder lust and needs to get out every once in a while. Not a problem since parks close by are a great relief for him.

Even though these three are such individuals they come together when we take them on camping vacations and they all want to hunt every squirrel they smell. They have been to Victoria BC and Gwennie has visited Butchart Gardens, she loved the tulips. They have also camped along the Oregon coast. To keep them happy we take make sure we have one on one time with each one of the dogs.

They feel happiest when they take a group shower. If we try to keep them apart they are too distressed with worry about the other two. They sleep and eat together. For more relaxation they pick an owner and watch TV on the sofa. If I’m alone, the dogs will try to gather on my lap. Since there is not enough room, Gwennie will assert herself and make sure she has the proper and rightful spot on the sofa. That’s Queen Gwennie for you.

Not to worry, Middy and Haggis keep each other company. They do perimeter checks in the back yard. Each one taking a side and running along the fence every morning and evening, making sure no cat or opossum has not stayed around too long. Middy and Haggis are partners in crime as well. They have been known to sneak each other biscuits from the cookie bin.

For all that can be said about these three, they are all true Scotties. They are loyal to a fault, and even as stubborn as they can be, they make up for it, with a readiness to cuddle and kiss.
